Employment Law in the UK

Issues relating to employment law can potentially take up a major proportion of a business's important HR related activities.  It's part of the nature of complex legislation, particularly legislation pertaining to employment law, that all businesses, whether large, small or somewhere in between (which is where the majority of us are) can run the risk of falling foul of the law if they aren't completely up to date and informed. For smaller businesses that don't have in-house HR, this can be a real problem.  Dealing with employment law in UK companies is a full time job - even the day to day issues can be time consuming, let alone the major challenges that can crop up from time to time.

Employment law is not simply an instrument set up to give employers headaches - far from it!  But it is true that in any part of the developed world, employers hold a great deal of responsibility for strict adherence to the terms of employment law.  In UK terms, employment law aims to support  employers and employees by the provision of a framework of rights and responsibilities for each.

The law is constantly changing and being revised, wouldn't it be great if you could have access to information about these changes when they happen rather than finding out too late?  For example do you know anything about the October 2007 Regulation changes - these cover various aspects of employment law including national minimum wage rates and annual leave entitlements.
